Taking the step to pursue therapy can be difficult, and I aim to provide support and understanding as you begin this process. Feelings of guilt, shame, anxiety and depression are common occurrences that are often too overwhelming to handle on one’s own. I will work with you to manage and ease the distress posed by these, and other, life stressors.
While I have experience with CBT, psychodynamic therapy, play therapy and mindfulness, I concentrate on developing our relationship. Using a person-centered framework, my goal is to establish an open, accepting and compassionate space for you to feel comfortable sharing your experiences.
I believe in a holistic approach that encompasses each dynamic domain of life including home, work, education and personal settings as well as family and personal values, culture and religious/spiritual beliefs. By drawing on your own lived experiences and relationships to others, together we can work to create a sustainable, healthy and enjoyable life that is best for you.
I have specialized training and expertise in working with: gender, sexuality, poly/non-monogamy, people and communities of color, relationships, parenting and blended families (and the interaction of gender, sex and sexuality in these dynamics), pregnancy and single parent households, parents/primary caretakers of LGBTQ+ children, familial conflict, conflicts of faith and/or spirituality with gender and sexuality, body image & self-esteem, anxiety, depression, children, youth, young adults and families.
