Dr. Konata Stallings is a Clinical Psychologist in Kew Gardens, NY who specializes in working with adults who are coping with anxiety, trauma and depression, especially those struggling with grief and loss. He enjoys working with individuals who may be struggling with mourning as well as coping with more abstract losses. He also enjoys working with members of the LGBTQIA+ community (especially those who identify as bisexual) as well as folks on the autistic spectrum. He has experience helping higher-functioning adults with Autism improve their social skills by helping them become more effective communicators. Dr. Stallings also enjoys working with creative individuals and performers such as actors, artists, and dancers. Dr. Stallings utilizes an eclectic and integrative treatment approach that includes a number of modalities, including Psychodynamic Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), particularly trauma-informed CBT. While Dr. Stallings works with his clients to explore how experiences earlier in life have impacted them as adults, he also helps them develop coping strategies to help them manage their symptoms and improve their level of functioning. The sessions are client-centered focusing on improving upon their current functioning. Whatever has brought you here, it is his hope that psychotherapy will be an enriching experience in your life, whether this is your first time in treatment or not. Despite your current frustrations, you are taking a positive step towards self care and exploration. It would be an honor to work with you and help offer support and collaborative guidance.
"One thing that can be overemphasized is that sexuality is at the top of how identity and personality are constructed. While sexuality is important in shaping who we are, there are other experiences and identities that can impact who we are equally or more."
