We help our community invest in our mental health

We’ll help you kickstart your mental health journey by helping you find and book queer-competent therapists at affordable rates.

What to expect when booking on Violet

At Violet, our mission is to improve the overall wellbeing of the LGBTQ+ community. We're starting by helping our community find and book queer-competent mental healthcare professionals.

See How it Works
Step 1

Tell us a bit about you and we’ll suggest a therapist for you.

In order to find the best provider for you, we need to learn a bit about you, your location, therapy goals, and other relevant information. Then, our pairing system will recommend up to three therapists that may be a great fit for you. You pick from one of these three!
Step 2

Book your initial 20-minute video introduction for free.

In order to find the right therapist, we suggest that you spend a little bit of time getting to know your therapist and letting them get to know you. This process will help us all start off on the right foot.
Step 3

Plan, build, and achieve together

We offer virtual and in-person bookings on our platform. We encourage everyone to book a weekly session through a subscription, because life gets busy and it’s important to keep mental health a priority.

If your introduction call confirmed that the provider isn't the best match, work with us to find the best match.

Like many journeys in life, being with the right team is the most important part of the journey. There’s no shame in ‘shopping’ for the best mental health provider for you — in fact, we encourage it.

What's Queer-Competent Care?

🔽

Our queer-competent provides possess four key characteristics:

(1) While our providers may or may not be LGTBQ+ themselves, they possess extensive experience working with the LGBTQ+ population, or have made it their clinical specialty.

(2) Our providers have an unconditional, positive regard and support for their patients’ gender identities and sexual orientations.

(3) Our providers integrate minority stress and resilience factors into their treatment, addressing both barriers to treatment and mental health, as well as areas in which patients are thriving.

(4) Our providers incorporate building LGBTQ+ community support systems, as well as positive identity-related activities and growth as part of treatment.

Do you accept insurance?

🔽

Like all things insurance, the answer is nuanced. If your insurance company covers out-of-network care, you may receive up to 90% of your mental healthcare costs. Please see this page for more information on insurance reimbursement.

We're considered an out-of-network provider with insurance companies. Why? Insurance companies heavily negotiate rates with each provider in their network; Violet's queer-competent providers are specialized in serving the queer-community and generally do not participate in insurance networks.

What if I can't afford therapy?

🔽

We're building Violet to support our community -- the queer community. If you're unable to afford our rates, please reach out to us and we'll find you an affordable provider. Ultimately, we want everyone to be able to access mental healthcare at affordable rates.

Will you find me a unique therapist?

🔽

Yes! Being queer ourselves, we know how important it is to find the perfect therapist for our needs. We'll sift through our network of providers and their networks to find the best therapist for you. Send us an email with your request for your a specific therapist.

Are sessions online or in-person?

🔽

Our sessions are typically 45-minutes long and can be conducted online or in-person. We believe that adherence to healthcare is more important than the delivery medium; consequently, we offer a fluid experience between online and in-person sessions.
